The 2026 competition will be held over 2 days – Monday 20th April and Tuesday 21st April 2026, with Sunday 19th April being the Senior Division Draw Night. - The Senior Division will be split into Open and Premier competitions as per previous REINZ championships and will consist of heats on Monday, followed by finalist auctions on Tuesday. NB: Depending on numbers, there might be two pools for the Open heats. - The Rising Star division will consist of heats only, from which a winner and runner-up will be decided on Tuesday. - The Senior Division competition order will be decided by a draw on Sunday 19th April at 6:00pm, at REINZ Centre for Excellence, 155 Khyber Pass, Newmarket, Auckland. The Rising Star draw will be conducted on Monday evening. - All competitors in each division will auction the same property. - The competitions are pre-scripted to ensure consistency for each competitor. - Only REINZ appointed bidders are permitted to bid. - Each stage of the competition is judged by a panel of experienced auctioneers. - All entrants receive detailed competition guidelines to help them train and prepare for the competition. This can include competition specific briefing session/s.
Rising Star Division - For new Auctioneers who have called 25 or less public auctions at the date of registration for NZAC 2026 and who have not entered this division more than 4 times (this time can be the 4th and last time to enter). Senior Division - The senior division will be split into Open and Premier heats as per previous NZAC events and is open to all Auctioneers who are REINZ members. Please select your preference at the time of registration. The final decision over which category you’re in will then be made by the Chief Judge based on entry numbers for each division). The winner and runner-up of the Rising Star Division, and up to four finalists from the Senior Open and Premier Divisions have the opportunity to progress to the Australasian Auctioneering Championships (AUSTROS), representing REINZ and New Zealand. AUSTROS 2026 will be held in Melbourne, on 19-21 May.
Who can compete in the REINZ National Auctioneering Championships? - This competition is open to REINZ members only. - Residential, commercial, and industrial auctioneers are welcome to enter. - Competitors may enter the Rising Star Division or either the Senior Open or Premier Divisions. The division entered will be based on each contestant’s auctioneering experience and eligibility criteria (refer to Auction Division details above). Please select your preference at the time of registration. - Competitors will be responsible for their own travel & accommodation costs, administration, and personal expenses to attend the NZAC/National Championships. Entry Criteria - The contestant is a current member of REINZ and their membership is fully paid up. - The contestant is a member of good standing of the real estate profession. - The contestant agrees to abide by the Competition Rules as stated or, additional rules imposed by the relevant Committee of the contest prior to the commencement of the final sessions. - The contestant has completed and returned the signed competition Terms and Conditions by the due date - 5pm, Tuesday 31 March 2026. These can be reviewed and downloaded from this website. - The contestant has paid the entry fee. How to enter - Enter by clicking the Register Now tab at the top right of the screen. - Entry deadline: 5pm, Tuesday 31 March 2026. - Entry fee to enter: $320 including GST for all divisions. Judging Panel The judging panel will consist of up to six members representing the real estate and property professions in New Zealand and be chaired by a separate person who will also be the Chief Judge. Judges are to be unbiased, consistent, fair, and transparent in their deliberations. Judging Criteria - The Chief Judge’s decision is final - The judging and tally sheets remain confidential to the Judging Panel. (The method of scoring must be explained to all contestants prior to the start of the heats.) - Individual assessments are to be collected from judges after each contestant has finished, but time is to be allowed for judges to confer, if necessary, before the sheets are collected - In the event of a tied score in the final for the winner, a count back will apply to determine the winner.
